CBC Serves Sunday 2023
Collection Dates: October 22 - November 12
Packing Date: Sunday, November 19
What is CBC Serves Sunday?
This is a Sunday morning we dedicate each year to serving our community with the hopes that it spurs continued service within our church body throughout the year.
As in years past, we will be serving Lovepacs - a local organization that provides food to kids in need in our community during breaks from school. Many of these children receive free breakfast and lunch at school so they may go hungry over holiday breaks. Lovepacs steps in at these times to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks for these kids.
How can I help?
We need food items - THOUSANDS of food items - from the Lovepacs list so we can pack hundreds of boxes. See the list below of needed items. Grab some of these items each week at the store and bring them to CBC with you Sunday mornings or during the week (9am-4pm Mon-Thurs).
We will collect for four weeks from October 22 through November 12. It is always so cool to see our donations grow week after week!
**NOTE: It is very important that these specific items are purchased as they are the only items and sizes that will be able to be packed into the boxes. Please do not donate items or sizes not on this list.**
What happens on November 19?
Sunday, November 19, we will gather together to pack these food items into boxes that the children in our community will take home over Christmas break to ensure they have enough to eat. To minimize lines, we will have two pack times - Pack time 1 is from 9:30-10am and Pack time 2 is from 10:30-11am. We will have one service in between pack times at 10am.
There will be no regular services or childcare that day.
Registration is requested to reduce wait times and lines.
Schedule for November 19:
9:30 to 10 am: Pack time 1 - Arrive around 9:30 am and pack a few boxes. After you're finished packing, grab some breakfast, and join us for service. You can leave after our 10 am service is over.
10 to 10:30 am: Church Service - Everyone gathers in the sanctuary for one brief service from 10-10:30 am. There will be no chairs set up in the sanctuary at this time so if you'll need to sit, feel free to bring chairs.
10:30 to 11 am: Pack time 2 - Come at 10am for service and, after service is over, you'll pack your boxes. After you're finished packing, you're welcome to leave.
**Note: This event requires some walking, carrying, and lifting. Boxes can get heavy as they are packed full of canned goods. We will have some helpers and furniture dollies available for use, but we strongly encourage you to bring something to carry your boxes on. This can be a furniture dolly or wagon - anything with wheels. Be sure to label it with your name!**
Do you need volunteers?
Yes! As you can imagine, this is a large event with many moving parts. We need people available on Monday evenings to help us count food items gathered so we can provide a report of how many items we've collected each week to the church body. We also need people to help at the event on 11/19. If you're available to volunteer, please email media@crossroadsbible.org.
