Philippians 2:5-8

  1. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
  2. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
  3. but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
  4. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross.

I. Visitation.

A. Christ's initiative.

B. Christ's accomplishment.

Man and God separated by sin

"...God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:19)

II. Invitation.

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

A. Jesus Christ has accomplished the work.

B. You are invited to receive eternal life as a free gift!

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9)

III. Conclusion & Applications.

Philippians 2:9-11

  1. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name,
  2. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
  3. and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
