Theology and Film
With Brent McKinney

Feature Film: Stranger than Fiction (PG-13, starring Will Farrell, Dustin Hoffman & Maggie Gyllenhaal) Ever felt like life is monotonous and/or repetitive? This movie is the story of an IRS agent who finds his life is being controlled by an author’s narration, who he must find—and convince to re-write the story—so that he can change the way his life turns out. Our class will watch the movie together and then discuss the message we get, the filmmaker’s art as to how we get that message, and how that message lines up with the truth of Scripture. Fee: Free!

What if my child doesn’t like Jesus or church? Now what?
June 12, 19, 26 & July 10, 17, 24 at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Statistics show as our Christian children grow up that 70% will leave the church at some point. The purpose of this Bible study is to explore why this may be happening. We will discuss what it means to authentically share our faith with our kids and how we can engage and encourage our children (of all ages) to seek an intimate relationship with Jesus. Class format will involve a brief lecture or guest speaker each week, overview of current reference material, discussion questions and open format to share our experiences in raising the next generation to follow Jesus.
